It’s never wise to mix with religion with business. You’re going to eventually alienate someone. For this reason, I rarely bring up the fact that my father was a baptist minister. This week, when I was given an assignment to photograph Rev. Darian Blue of the Nicholtown Baptist Church, It didn’t take long for Darian to figure out I was a “P.K.” (Preacher’s Kid). We see the ins and outs of a church community in a way most never do. We quickly sparked up a conversation about the many names given to ministers. My father was fondly addressed as reverend, doctor, preacher, and “preach” among others. Rev. Blue’s favorite was “Chap”, a name given to him by local inmates while serving God within the prison system. My dad would have chuckled at that one…no doubt.
